1994 Group to co-sponsor conference: HE and School Partnerships Conference, Tuesday 13th May 2008, Barbican Centre, London EC2

Keynote Speaker:

Bill Rammell MP,
Minister of State for Lifelong Learning and Further and Higher Education

"Universities need to engage directly with schools to ensure that their potential students, whatever their backgrounds, are properly equipped to make the most of higher education."

Rt Hon John Denham MP
Secretary of State for Innovation Universities and Skills, 2007

Partnerships between HE and schools sit at the heart of the Government's commitment to widening participation. Academies and Trust Schools are next the next steps towards formalising longstanding local partnerships.

If the Government's objective of raising participation in HE towards 50% of those aged 18-30 is to be achieved these partnerships will become the key opportunity to nurture, influence and inspire the undergraduates of tomorrow.

This conference will map the latest policy developments, in light of the proposals for engagement from the National Council for Educational Excellence and explore the variety of opportunities created by formal collaboration.

Bringing together senior managers and policy makers from across the 14-19 and HE sectors, this conference will set out how to meet the practical challenges of partnerships between HE and schools whilst taking advantage of the unprecedented opportunities and incentives that collaboration provides.

For more information about this conference and details of how to register can be found on the Neil Stewart Associates website.
